Every time you get in a car, pregnant or not, you should wear a lap-shoulder belt. As your belly expands, it is important to wear the lap belt below the abdomen, low on your hips. Never put it above or across your belly. Make sure the shoulder strap goes across your chest (between the breasts) and not under your arm or off your shoulder. The belt should fit snuggly—never too loose or too tight.
