I’m Pregnant and Tired and Nothing Seems to Help. is Something Wrong?
Fatigue and pregnancy seem to go hand in hand, and we’ve already covered many of the reasons why you might be feeling so exhausted in the different stages of your pregnancy. However, this doesn’t mean you should just grin and bear it. If you’ve already tried some of the more common ways to perk up — a better sleep routine, getting more exercise, eating healthy, and investing in a nice pregnancy pillow – and haven’t seen any improvement, there may be some other issues going on.
Anemia, or a low red blood cell count, is common in pregnancy and can leave you feeling like you can’t even stay awake. Issues with your thyroid can also make you sleepy. If you have asthma that isn’t under good control, or another medical problem like sleep apnea (where you wake up many times a night without realizing it because your breathing becomes obstructed), you may not be getting the rest you need either. Bottom line? Make an appointment to discuss this with your doctor or midwife so they can determine if any tests or treatments may need to be tried to keep you and your baby healthy.
