Is it oK to Have Acrylic Nails if I am Pregnant?

Many women who have acrylic nails wonder if it’s safe to continue using them once they find out they are pregnant. It is probably fine, since so little chemicals will get into your bloodstream and across the placenta to your baby. However, no formal studies have actually looked at this.

If you do wear them, just be smart about it: go to a clean salon, try to go first thing in the morning when the fumes are less, and if you notice any evidence of infection (such as signs of a fungal infection, discoloration, or redness on your skin around the nail bed), be sure to get checked out right away. If you want to be super safe and avoid chemical exposure, go ahead and avoid them during your pregnancy, or at least in your first trimester.
