Even a day’s worth of vomiting or diarrhea can put your baby at risk. Here are a few clues:

Dry lips

Sunken eyes

Sunken fontanel (soft spot on top of the baby’s head)

Heart is beating faster than usual

Decreased number of wet diapers 

If your baby has any of these symptoms, a visit to the pediatrician is in order. Your baby may need IV fluids to rehydrate him, especially if the vomiting or diarrhea persists.
