Depending on the type of repellent, the product may have anywhere from 10-30 percent DEET. Typically, 10 percent DEET lasts approximately two hours and 30 percent DEET lasts around five hours.

The least-concentrated product should be used to protect your child. As soon as your child returns indoors, the repellent should be washed off your child’s skin right away. Children under 2 months old should never use insect repellents.
