What Should I Pack in my Child’s First aid Travel Kit?
Traveling with children is no fun when they get sick. It’s important to be prepared if you are away from home and your little one is under the weather. Here are a few ideas of what to bring with you just in case.
Fever reducers
Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen is a must. You don’t want to have to make a run to the drugstore when you are away from home if your child has a fever. Also don’t forget the thermometer!
Antihistamines
An antihistamine such as Benadryl is always helpful to have on hand in case of an allergic reaction or hives. Benadryl cream or a steroid cream is also great to have on hand for insect bites or rashes.
Band-aids and antibiotic ointment
Don’t forget the Band-aids and antibiotic ointment for scratches and scrapes. An ice pack may come in handy too.
Saline nose drops
If your little one gets a cold, saline nose drops and a bulb syringe will help keep your child more comfortable.
Chronic medications
Finally, don’t forget any chronic medications, even if your child does not use them every day. Examples include an EpiPen if your child has severe allergies, an asthma inhaler or nebulizer, or any prescription medications your child may need.
Important phone numbers
It is also helpful to have the phone numbers of the poison control center, a local hospital in the area where you are traveling, as well as the number of your pediatrician.
