Are There Non-pharmacological Ways to Treat a Cold if I’m Pregnant?

Colds are common nuisances in pregnancy! Many women want to avoid taking unnecessary medications in pregnancy, and with a cold, there are many things you can try to help your symptoms that don’t involve a prescription. These include:

  • Making sure you get adequate rest and nutrition
  • Saline nasal sprays
  • Using a humidifier
  • Saltwater gargling
  • Sore throat lozenges

Of course, if you have a fever, are not improving, or feel unwell enough to keep food or liquids down or take care of yourself, be sure to let your doctor or midwife know.
