Artificial sweeteners may have zero calories, but they have still been linked to poor health. Research has shown that sugar alternatives such as sucralose, aspartame, and saccharin can lead to Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, increased blood pressure, and high blood sugar levels.

You may be better off having that teaspoon of sugar with your coffee in the morning and cutting down on sweet snacks later in the day.
