Nabta Wins Healthcare Innovation Cup at GITEX

The Department of Health (DoH) – Abu Dhabi hosted the Healthcare Innovation Cup this year as part of GITEX Future Stars. The competition saw 13 finalists from around the world pitch on DoH’s stand on Day 3.

The title was jointly awarded to us, Nabta Health, for our original model of hybrid healthcare, and Korean firm Smartsound Corporation, which recently won investment from Samsung to develop its sound processing technology. Both companies were awarded licensing at Abu Dhabi Global Market, free incubation for two years with co-working space and coaching in the marketing entry planning and product.

With a prominent presence at GITEX Technology Week and GITEX Future Stars, the DoH also showcased a number of its latest technology and artificial intelligence projects aimed at promoting community health in the emirate.

Dr. Asmaa Ibrahim Al Mannaei, Director, Healthcare Quality Division, Department of Healthcare Abu Dhabi highlighted the importance of innovation in the healthcare sector and the efforts that are being made by DoH to create an enabling environment for startups in healthcare, with the ultimate aim of enhancing Abu Dhabi’s healthcare environment overall. Dr. Al Mannaei made it clear that she is a strong believer in startups and the innovations they bring to the local healthcare sector.
