Can I get a Dental X-ray if i’m Pregnant?
Many pregnant women think dental x-rays are off-limits during pregnancy because they fear exposing the developing fetus to radiation. However, the amount that the baby is actually exposed to is extremely small, given how little is used and is then blocked using a leaded abdominal shield.
With up to 40 percent of pregnant women having some form of dental disease, women should rest assured that these x-rays are completely safe at any point in pregnancy. If your dentist recommends them, go for it!
