How Many flu Shots Will my Child Get?

The vaccine is available as a traditional shot for babies aged six months and older.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the second dose should be given at least 28 days after the first dose. The first dose is considered a primer dose, getting the body’s immune system ready to make antibodies, and the second dose the protection dose against the flu. It takes about two weeks after the second dose for the body to mount a full immune response. Children who have received two doses in prior flu seasons will only require one dose.
