What are the Best Sources of Potassium for my Child?

Potassium plays a role in the transport of nerve impulses. Infants from 0-6 months need 400 milligrams (mg) per day; infants aged 7-12 months need 700 mg per day; toddlers aged 1-3 years need 3,000 mg each day; and children aged 4-8 years need 3,800 mg per day.

You can find potassium in the following foods: potatoes, prune juice, carrot juice, tomato paste, beet greens, cannelloni beans, yogurt, tomato juice, sweet potatoes, orange juice, halibut, tuna, lima beans, chocolate milk, bananas, spinach, peaches, milk, and apricots.
