What are the Signs of a Food Allergy?

The most common food allergens are milk, soy, egg, peanut, tree nut, wheat, fish, and shellfish. Signs that may indicate your child has a food allergy include vomiting, diarrhea, a rash or hives, swelling around the mouth and eyes, or difficulty breathing. These symptoms occur when the food allergen is eaten. If your baby experiences any of these symptoms, stop feeding the allergen, and contact your doctor. For symptoms involving difficulty breathing, call 911 immediately.
