What are the Best Sources of Vitamin a for my Child?

Jill Castle, MS, RDN

Infants from 0-6 months need 400 micrograms (mcg) each day; infants aged 7-12 months need 500 mcg per day; toddlers aged 1-3 years need 300 mcg per day, and children aged 4-8 years need 400 mcg per day.

Vegetables and fruits are great sources of vitamin A. Specifically, try beef liver, milk, cheese, egg, sweet potato, carrots, kale, cantaloupe, romaine lettuce, spinach, red pepper, mango, papaya, broccoli, and watermelon.
