How Frequently Will my Baby eat Formula?

In the first few weeks of life, your baby will drink 2-3 ounces of formula at a time and eat every 3-4 hours. Sometime during the second month of life, formula drinking will increase to about 4 ounces every 4 hours. By 6 months, your baby will drink even more at each feeding: 6-8 ounces during each of 4 to 5 feedings a day (24-32 ounces per day). On average, your baby should consume 2.5 ounces for every pound of his body weight. For example, if your baby weighs 10 lbs, then he would drink 25 ounces in a 24-hour period. However, babies should not consume more than 32 ounces of formula in a day.
