HPV (Human Papillomavirus) Infection in Men
While the Human Papilloma is spoke of extensively while discussing cervical cancer in women, it is also responsible for certain cases of anal cancer and penile cancer in men. Out of the different types of HPV, the low risk subtypes that cause warts cause the symptoms in men. However, the HPV which lead to precancerous lesions do not cause any symptoms in men and a seemingly healthy man may be the carrier of high-risk HPV. Even though they’re without symptoms, they can still transmit the virus – which is why it is important or men to get tested for HPV as well.
