My Baby Loves to Look at the tV, but the Doctor Said not to let her Have any Screen Time. won’t she be Bored?

Just turn one on, and it’s nearly impossible for the infant to look away—which is exactly the problem. Televisions, with their fast flashing lights, loud sounds, and movement are overstimulating to an infant brain. TV stimulation creates chaos in the brain, interfering with learning and attention over time. Instead, babies like to look at their surroundings. The youngest infants are stimulated by contrasts between light and dark, such as when looking at a window with light streaming into the room. By two months of age, infants love to stare at your face and the faces of familiar adults and children. Older infants need simple objects to hold and explore with their eyes. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics October 2016 update on screen time, infants aged 0–18 months should only be exposed to digital to media to video chat, and then under supervision.
