Colposcope : What is it and When is it Used ?
By Nabta Team
Colposcope, what is it? Colposcope is a medical tool that consists of a microscope used specifically to look at the lower female reproductive tract. If abnormal cells are found on PAP smear, using a colposcope would be the next step and is considered the golden standard when it comes to detecting abnormal cells in the cervix. Sometimes special solutions are used to highlight cells – these could be acetic acid or iodine solution.
